Brush up on Boundaries

It is warming up in Vancouver, BC and maybe in your region too. Ahhh the sun! It is nice to see and feel you again!

Today we added a short boundary training after Knudsen’s hour and a half walk. Knudsen was tired (and happy) so we kept our lesson short.

Ask your pup to “sit”. Then “stay” as you open the front door to your home. In this case I closed the door again.

Each day as you start off a walk make sure your dog waits as you go through the door first. Ask your puppy to wait before going through any doors or when transitioning to other areas. When you have crossed the boundary turn to your dog: “Let’s Go!”.

Boundary training helps to keep your dog from underfoot. It is important to prevent your dog from bolting when you leave your home.

“Good Knudsen!” He looked but stayed as told. If you are working with a little pup start with a leash before opening the door. As your confidence builds gradually you can remove the leash.

Happy Trails and Happy Tails.
