Dog Talents. Knudsen has a nose for Balls!
What is your dog’s special talent.
Knudsen, our own DTO student, has a nose for finding balls.
This labrador retriever has even learned to associate certain plants with balls. We pass a tennis court and across is a low ground cover of periwinkle and ivy that inevitably has proven too good at hiding balls that travel out of the tennis court. Almost every walk produces a ball.
The funny thing is as we walk elsewhere along periwinkle or ivy ground cover, Knudsen will jump, in search of a ball. It’s harmless. In fact this is an association method that works with much training.
Knudsen has a very good nose for balls and finds them in thick bushes along the road.
Today we found a chuck-it ball in a Himalayan blackberry. It got a little hairy, or prickly to be exact… with the brambles, but I trust Knudsen, and he came out unscathed and with a new toy. Knudsen will dive into grasses at the most surprising moment. We need to be on the ball! Excuse the pun!
What is your dog’s talent? We’d love to hear.
